Shortly after coming onboard as the new Centre Manager at Kalgoorlie Rec Centre, Natalie Piuk, has been nominated for the esteemed 2024 Youth Worker or Volunteer of the Year Award.

Since joining the Y, Natalie has made a significant positive impact on Kalgoorlie’s youth community, earning well-deserved recognition ahead of the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder's 2024 Youth Awards.

Natalie is passionate about supporting young people and recognises the diverse challenges youth face in a small regional town like Kal.

"I take great interest in working with young people and promoting programs and engagements that can steer them in a positive direction in life. In such a small regional town, the challenges our youth face can vary significantly...hence its important to known that you can make a huge difference in a young person's life working in this space, " she said.

"My priority has been to get more young people engaged with the Y. This year, it's exciting to have eight of our young people being selected to walk the Kokoda Trek. I believe it will have a huge impact on building the leadership and characters of these young people and I am excited to see the growth and development this unique opportunity brings into their lives."

Michelle Champion General Manager of Youth, Community, and Leisure voiced great pride in Natalie’s nomination,“Natalie’s nomination is a testament to her dedication and passion for youth services in Kalgoorlie. She is a true role model for young people across the city," she said.
